McDonald's Corp. said that it plans to shut 169 of its restaurants in India's northern and eastern regions due to a dispute with its local partner Connaught Plaza Restaurants Pvt. Ltd., Reuters reported. McDonald's said that it was “compelled” to take the action because CPRL had breached the terms of their franchise agreements. The move follows a protracted legal dispute between the two companies that started in 2013.
