Comp costs down, claim resolutions up in Oregon last year

Workers compensation costs in Oregon dipped slightly in 2016 but the number of claims resolved increased, according to figures released Monday by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services.

Per the report, the state saw average claims cost decrease from $20,580 in 2015 to $19,930 in 2016. The state saw 19,809 claims resolved in 2016, an increase of 739 over 2015’s 19,070 resolved claims. 

Overall, a ten-year focus has seen claims resolutions dip — from the highest number of resolved claims of 23,355 in 2007 — and average per-claim costs fluctuate between $17,840 in 2006 and $23,390 in 2010.
