California to update medical treatment guidelines for injured workers

The California Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Workers’ Compensation is realigning parts of its medical treatment schedule for injured workers, regulators announced Monday.

The changes will incorporate recent revisions to the evidence-based guidelines provided by the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, according to a press release,

The proposed evidence-based updates include guidelines drafted between 2011 and 2017, covering such ailments as hand, wrist and forearm disorders; knee disorders; low back disorders; and chronic pain.

The division plans to hold a public hearing Sept. 6 at its office in Oakland, California.
