NFL seeks to study marijuana's impact on pain management

The National Football League has written a letter to the National Football League Players Association offering to work with the players’ union on studying marijuana as a pain management tool.

The players’ union is currently working on its own study, according to media reports.

The league reached out the union in early July to propose working together to research the impact of marijuana and pain management. The union has acknowledged the NFL’s letter, but has not yet committed to working on a study. The NFL is not making the letter available to the public at this time, an NFL spokesman said Tuesday in an emailed statement.

The union could not immediately be reached for comment.
