Aspen's ceded premiums triple

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd.'s premiums ceded grew 216% to more than $243 million in the second quarter, compared with nearly $77 million in the second quarter of 2016, Artemis.bm reports. The insurer's gross written premiums grew 2.5% to more than $822 million, compared with more than $801 million in the previous year. Premiums ceded increased by about 120% year over year to more than $555 million in the first half, while gross premiums grew nearly 2.5% to $1.80 billion.
