Markel names construction practice lead

Markel Global Insurance, a division of Glen Allen, Virginia-based Markel Corp., on Thursday said John Ferguson has been named a director of its U.S. excess casualty team to lead its retail construction practice.

Mr. Ferguson will have both underwriting and relationship management duties as the firm’s retail construction practice lead. He will be based in New York and report to Matt Mullen, managing director of excess casualty.

Mr. Ferguson was most recently Northeast casualty manager for Ironshore Inc.
