Moonlighting firefighter charged with comp fraud

The beat went on for a firefighter in Connecticut who claims he was injured in 2016 but continued to play with his band. 

Michael Hudd was charged with workers compensation fraud after claiming he was injured in March 2016 but was later seen setting up band equipment and performing on the drums, FOX 61 reported on Friday. 

The Connecticut State Attorney’s office told reporters that 55-year-old Mr. Hudd received more than $21,000 in workers comp benefits based on his claim of having “no work capacity of any kind, and not earning any money outside of the disability payment,” the station reported. 

Meanwhile, officials said that Mr. Hudd was spotted four times playing drums for a local band called the Rum Runners. He was also seen lifting, moving and setting up the band’s equipment, the station reported.
