Marsh appoints chief digital officer

Marsh L.L.C. on Monday said it has appointed Sastry Durvasula to the newly created role of chief digital officer and chief data and analytics officer, effective Aug. 14.

Mr. Durvasula will be based in Phoenix and report to John Drzik, Marsh’s president of global risk and specialties.

He will be responsible for leading the strategic design, development and delivery of Marsh’s digital capabilities, data and analytics, and client-facing technology across the firm’s global business, Marsh said.

Mr. Durvasula will also be responsible for Marsh ClearSight, a provider of risk, safety, and claims management software. Janet Dell, CEO of Marsh ClearSight, will report to Mr. Durvasula, a company spokeswoman said.

Mr. Durvasula joins Marsh from American Express Co., which he joined in 2002 and where most recently he was enterprise head of data and digital technology. In that role, Mr. Durvasula had overall responsibility for the transformation and delivery of AmEx’s internal- and external-facing data and digital capabilities.

“Sastry brings a superior in-depth knowledge of digital technologies — including big data, blockchain and artificial intelligence — and a proven track record of leading enterprise transformation at scale,” Mr. Drzik said in a statement.
