Mario Lopez sues insurance company

Part of television host Mario Lopez’s backyard slid down a hill during heavy rains early this year, as did hopes that his insurance policy would cover the devastation to his sprawling Glendale, California, villa.

The “Saved by the Bell” actor and host of entertainment show “Extra” is suing his insurance company for refusing to pay out on a claim after floods caused major damage just behind his $2.6 million mansion, causing tens of thousands of dollars in repairs, according to DailyMail.com.

A lawsuit filed against Federal Insurance, a unit of Chubb Ltd., on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court states that Lopez suffered “substantial, covered, physical loss,” the news outlet reported.

Mr. Lopez was reportedly distraught earlier this year when high winds and flood waters caused the backyard of his luxury hillside home to collapse onto the street below. He shared photos and a video on social media showing the devastation, including a gaping hole that had opened up after the hillside slipped following a torrential rainstorm, DailyMail.com reported.

He is accusing Federal of sending its own, non-independent consultants to investigate the damage, thus “supporting a denial of coverage for the loss,” the lawsuit states.
