UK firms stockpile bitcoins, willing to pay more than $175,000 to cyber criminals: Survey

A survey by market research firm, OnePoll Ltd., found that more than two-fifths of U.K.-based businesses are stockpiling bitcoin cryptocurrency in case of a ransomware attack compared with a third last year, ComputerWeekly.com reported.

Large firms are prepared to pay out more than £136,000 ($175,481) on average to cyber criminals, up nearly four times compared with in 2016.

On average, U.K. firms are stockpiling bitcoin cryptocurrency worth around £46,000 while a third have bitcoins worth more than £50,000 on standby.
