Claims manager buys managed care software firm

Mitchell International Inc. said Tuesday that it has acquired UniMed Direct, a Richardson, Texas-based provider of proprietary enterprise managed care software and physician peer-review services to the workers compensation industry.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This acquisition integrates UniMed’s ReviewStat managed care software platform with San Diego-based Mitchell’s existing portfolio, the claims manager said in a statement.

“Now, with access to UniMed's ReviewStat, we can further enhance our capabilities to integrate medical workflows into the broader claims management process for greater efficiencies and improved outcomes,” Mitchell President and CEO Alex Sun said in a statement.
