Louisiana comp formulary bill fails

A bill proposing a workers compensation drug formulary in Louisiana will not pass the state Senate this year, the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Kirk Talbot, R-River Ridge, confirmed Friday.

H.B. 592 proposed the creation of a drug formulary that would have been in line with the most recent version of the Workers’ Compensation Formulary of the Official Disability Guidelines, published by the Work Loss Data Institute, according to a draft of the bill.

As of Friday, the bill sits with the state’s Senate’s Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations after passing the House 58-36 on May 23. According to the legislative schedule, Monday is the Senate’s deadline to vote on bills, and the Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations is not slated to meet before then.

“It will not pass the senate this year,” Rep. Talbot said in an email.
