CNA taps former Chubb exec to head specialty unit

CNA Financial Corp. named former Chubb Ltd. executive Kevin Smith president and chief operating officer of CNA Specialty on Tuesday, succeeding Mark Herman who has resigned.

CNA Specialty’s business includes professional and management liability, financial institutions, healthcare and other specialized property/casualty insurance, as well as the insurer’s surety, warranty and service contract business, according to a CNA statement.

Mr. Smith, who assumes his new position effective May 22, was most recently executive vice president and North American field strategic development officer for Chubb Ltd.

A CNA spokeswoman said Mr. Herman, who joined CNA in 2013, is not yet ready to announce where he is going.
