Ryan Specialty names Kathy Burns to top technology position

Ryan Specialty Group L.L.C. named Chicago-based Kathy Burns to the newly created position of senior vice president, chief digital officer on Wednesday.

Ms. Burns is a long-time Risk Management Information Systems executive.

She headed Aon P.L.C.’s former RMIS unit Aon eSolutions but stood down as CEO in 2015 after it was sold to Palo Alto, California-based Symphony Technology Group Inc. and renamed Ventiv Technology Inc.

She remains on the board of Ventiv, according to a Ryan Specialty statement.

“Kathy is a proven leader with extensive insurance and technology knowledge and experience. At RSG, she will direct and further develop RSG’s client enabling technologies,” said Patrick G. Ryan, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Ryan Specialty Group.

Ms. Burns was named one of the Business Insurance Women to Watch in 2006.
