Ransomware criminals target New Zealand's public sector

Geoff King, information services director at New Zealand's Waikato District Health Board, said that international cyber criminals are increasing their attacks on government agencies and hospitals in an effort to extort cash using ransomware, Stuff.co.nz reported. New Zealand's National Cyber Security Centre recorded nearly 340 cybercrime incidents in the year ended June 2016, of which nearly 170 incidents involved the public sector.
