Brit names CEO for Singapore specialty insurance expansion

Lloyd’s of London insurer Brit Ltd. said Thursday that David Lim has been named CEO of Brit Global Specialty Singapore, effective May 15.

Based in Singapore, Mr. Lim will report to Chief Underwriting Officer Christiern Dart in this newly created position. He and Charles Barrett, chief underwriting officer for Asia-Pacific, will be responsible for identifying opportunities and establishing new lines of business for Brit Singapore, Brit said in a statement.

Mr. Lim joins Brit from ArgoGlobal, where he was most recently head of marine in Asia. He also founded the Marine Insurance Committee under the General Insurance Association of Singapore as the sole representative of Lloyd’s Asia on the committee, according to the statement.

Brit group CEO Matthew Wilson said in the statement that Mr. Lim “brings with him a wealth of relationships and knowledge of the local market, something that is especially important when operating in the region and will be of significant benefit to Brit as we look to expand the business.”

The appointment follows the opening of Brit’s Singapore office in March 2016.

Brit Ltd. is owned by Toronto-based Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.
