BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Alliant combines niche practices to form Alliant Specialty Group

Alliant Insurance Services Inc. on Wednesday said it has combined its portfolio of industry-focused specialty insurance practices to form Alliant Specialty Group.

Newport Beach, California-based Alliant Specialty Group will cover a broad range of industries and sectors, including public entities, construction, agribusiness, energy and marine, health care, real estate and more, Alliant said in a statement.

Alliant Specialty Group will be led by Peter Arkley, head of the broker’s construction services group.

Mr. Arkley was one of several senior construction brokers Alliant had allegedly poached from Aon P.L.C. since 2011, a move that led to legal disputes over noncompete agreements. Mr. Arkley’s case was settled in 2013.

“The delivery of customized, industry-focused risk and insurance solutions has been the cornerstone of our organization for more than 90 years,” Alliant Chairman and CEO Tom Corbett said in the statement. “Alliant Specialty Group solidifies our commitment to being the nation’s specialty insurance leader and builds out a solid foundation for future growth.”

Alliant Insurance Services is the 12th-largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance’s latest ranking.
