Liberty Mutual Insurance acquires medical stop-loss MGA

Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. said Tuesday that it has acquired the assets of TRU Services L.L.C.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Beverly, Massachusetts-based TRU Services is a managing general agent that specializes in providing medical stop-loss products to midsize and large medical plan sponsors, administering $65 million in premium in 2016, Liberty Mutual said in a statement. 

TRU Services will continue operating as an MGA throughout 2017 and will transition to directly writing medical stop-loss for Liberty International Underwriters by Jan. 1, 2018, according to the statement.
