Trump cap to blame for unhappy happy hour

A Philadelphia man was booted from a New York bar in January for wearing one of President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats and is now suing the establishment, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Greg Piatek, a 30-year-old accountant, was refused service at The Happiest Hour bar and alleges that his iconic — and controversial — hat led to a confrontation with the bar’s manager, the newspaper reported Monday, citing the lawsuit.

“I spoke directly to the owner and the owner told me that anyone who supports Trump or believes what you believe is not welcome here! And you need to leave right now because we won’t serve you!” Mr. Piatek alleges in the lawsuit, as reported by the Inquirer.

On Jan. 28, Mr. Piatek and two friends toured the 9/11 Memorial Museum and then rendezvoused to the nearby bar, where they allege they waited about 20 minutes for service and watched the bartender take orders from patrons in their vicinity, the newspaper reported.

Mr. Piatek thought he and his friends were being ignored and asked the bartender, “have you been ignoring me just because of my hat?” and the bartender allegedly replied, “Yes, that’s my thing,” according to the newspaper.
