Driver must pay $80,000 in restitution for comp fraud

An Ohio man pleaded guilty to one count of workers compensation fraud for continuing to work while collecting comp benefits from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, the bureau’s Special Investigations Department said Monday.
Robert Willie Jr. began collecting comp benefits in 2010 after he was injured while working as a school bus driver. Between March 2010 and May 2015, Mr. Willie worked as a limousine driver and office clerk for a Columbus, Ohio, company while continuing to collect comp benefits, according to a statement.
Mr. Willie must repay the bureau $80,000 and serve five years of probation, the press release said.
“Thanks to responsible citizens who report fraud, we were able to stop a workers comp cheat and return BWC dollars to their rightful purpose — creating safer workplaces across Ohio and helping workers who are legitimately injured on the job,” said bureau Administrator and CEO Sarah Morrison.
