The Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. said Monday that it will provide $5,000 grants to 40 companies that will allow the firms to hire summer risk management interns.
As part of the grant, risk managers at 40 companies including CBIZ Inc., FM Global, and Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. will hire interns that will work in the risk management departments of the companies, which were selected based on an application process, the New York-based Spencer Foundation said in a statement.
“As the industry celebrates Insurance Careers Month, we are excited to announce these 40 internship grants that will provide students hands-on experience in a corporate risk management department,” said Spencer Foundation Chairman and Executive Vice President Ron Davis. “Since 1997, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants.”
The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. pledged a donation of $450,000 toward risk management and insurance educational programs, the organization said Tuesday.
