Higher underwriting losses hit insurers' profits

Most of the Indian nonlife insurers took a hit on their profitability in the first half of fiscal year ending March 31, despite booking higher premium during the period, Business Standard reported citing the Press Trust of India. An increase in underwriting losses and huge amount of paid claims led to the decline in profits.
