Floods cause more than $1.5 billion in property damage

Vietnam's Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has said that floods caused more than 37.65 trillion Vietnamese dong ($1.7 billion) worth of property damage and killed 235 people during the year, VietNamNet Bridge reports. Floods since mid-October have caused more than VND 8.57 trillion worth of property damage, which includes damage to more than 316,000 houses, more than 42,800 hectares of rice fields and 39,000 hectares of other crops.
