Cyber attacks cost the global logistics supply chain industry $56 billion in the form of cargo theft and supply chain disruption in 2015, Air cargo News reported. The industry has become a favored target of cyber criminals due to its unpreparedness. The continued introduction of new technologies in the global civil aviation industry presents a huge risk as there is no cybersecurity in place. Maritime container and air cargo shipments and their associated electronic control and data systems are also considered to be soft targets for cyber attacks.
