NAPSLO past president Gary Westphalen dies
Posted On: Nov. 17, 2016 2:13 PM CSTGary Westphalen, past president of the National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices Ltd., died on Sunday, the Kansas City, Missouri-based organization said Thursday.
Mr. Westphalen, 71, died of cancer, NAPSLO executive director Brady Kelley said.
Mr. Westphalen, who was NAPSLO president in 1996-97, began his career in 1968 with the Empire Fire & Marine Insurance Co. in Omaha, Nebraska, NAPSLO said in a statement.
He left Empire to join Oklahoma City-based Oklahoma General Agency in 1975. He opened Oklahoma City-based surplus lines broker Westphalen, Bradley & James Inc. in 1987. Mr. Westphalen became semi-retired in 2005, according to the statement.
