Volkswagen receives approval to recall another 2.6 million vehicles

German automaker Volkswagen A.G. has received regulatory approval to carry out technical fixes on additional vehicles affected by its diesel emissions scandal in Europe, Fortune reports. Volkswagen admitted in 2015 that it had installed software which deactivated pollution controls on more than 11 million diesel vehicles sold worldwide. The German motor authority had earlier approved fixes for around 5.6 million vehicles with 1.2-liter and 2.0-liter engines. This new approval affects vehicles with 1.6 liter engines
