Lloyd’s broker lures Southeast Asia marine cargo team from rival

International Lloyd’s of London insurance and reinsurance broker RFIB Group Ltd. on Monday announced the appointments of Paul Leith-Smith, Giles Penfold and Will Hawkins to a new Southeast Asia marine cargo team.

The team joins from London-based Ed Broking L.L.P., formerly Cooper Gay & Co. Ltd.

The three will report to RFIB director Chris Bracegirdle and Chris Tansley, managing director for marine, and will assist with RFIB’s expansion into Southeast Asia, RFIB said in a statement.

Mr. Leith-Smith previously served as director of marine at Ed and was a founding partner at Cameron Richard & Smith. Mr. Penfold was also a director of marine at Ed, and Mr. Hawkins was a marine cargo broker.

“Southeast Asia represents a key growth area for RFIB, and the marine cargo sector will be a key pillar in this expansion,” RFIB CEO Dennis Mahoney said in a statement.
