Major quake would pose serious risk to Canadian economy: Report
Posted On: Aug. 4, 2016 12:00 AM CSTA new report from Canada's C.D. Howe Institute has found that a major earthquake would likely pose a serious risk to the nation's economy, CBC.ca reported.
Nick Le Pan, the report's author, said that the nation's property/casualty insurers could handle claims totaling up to $30 billion Canadian ($23 billion). Catastrophic losses beyond this "would exceed the existing capacity of Canada's insurance industry," said Mr. Le Pan.
