Axis Capital Holdings' net income jumps 90%

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. posted a 90% leap in second quarter profits to $119 million, up from $63 million in the same period of 2015, The Royal Gazette reported.

Gross premiums written climbed 11% to $1.3 billion. Axis Capital estimated $104 million in catastrophe and weather-related losses during the quarter.
