Specialty insurer appoints chief commercial officer

Insurer and reinsurer Sompo Canopius A.G. on Monday named Paul Kedney chief commercial officer, a newly created role.

Previously, Mr. Kedney was actuarial and risk director at AEGIS London, a unit of Bermuda-based energy insurer Associated Electric & Gas Insurance Services Ltd., Zurich-based Sompo Canopius said in a statement.

Mr. Kedney will be based in London.

Sompo Canopius is a unit of Tokyo-based insurer Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Holdings Inc. It underwrites through a Lloyd’s of London syndicate, a U.S. surplus lines insurer and a Zurich-based reinsurer.
