VW to pay additional $86 million in civil penalties over emissions scandal

California Attorney General Kamala Harris has said that Volkswagen A.G. will pay an additional $86 million in civil penalties to the state over the automaker's emissions scandal, reports Reuters.

The penalties come on top of a $14.7 billion settlement that Volkswagen reached with U.S. officials recently. The office of Ms. Harris said the $86 million in penalties resolved certain claims made by California officials against Volkswagen under the state's unfair competition law and the federal law.
