Teen plays risky game of ding dong ditch

It may just sound like a harmless prank, but a game of ding dong ditch has led to a $50,000 lawsuit in Illinois.

Shorewood, Illinois, insurance agent John Wright alleges that a neighborhood teen rang his doorbell and ran off so many times that it left him with emotional stress and health problems, according to website Patch.com.

According to a suit filed in Will County, Illinois, Court this month, Mr. Wright suffered severe anxiety, weight loss, sleeplessness and emotional distress after the alleged doorbell-ringing campaign by a 14-year-old neighbor.

He also claims to have lost $30,000 of income as a result.

Mr. Wright eventually called the police, and the teen — whose father is also a local insurance agent — confessed to ringing the bell at least once.
