Insurers settle $80 million in claims from April quake

Insurers have paid out over $80 million in claims related to the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Ecuador in April, reported El Universo.

The Ecuadorian Federation of Insurers said that 5,207 claims had been settled so far and 16,685 were still pending. The quake damaged about 30,000 homes as well as other public and private buildings. Ecuador's government has estimated that post-quake reconstruction would cost $3.34 billion.
