Increased pressure from reinsurance on primary lines: A.M. Best

A.M. Best Co. Inc. has said that pressures from insurance-linked securities and reinsurance are growing in primary reinsurance lines, reports Artemis.bm.

Global reinsurers have adjusted portfolios to focus on slightly more attractive primary lines owing to reduced profitability across reinsurance business.

Pricing for primary business "is a little more attractive than on the reinsurance side, although increased pressure is mounting in this sector as well," said the rating agency. "Over the recent term, property pricing pressures have become more acute, even on the primary side," added A.M. Best.
