Berkshire expands into Asian accident and health market

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. is entering the accident and health market in Asia, the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. unit said.

The specialty insurer will initially focus on broker-distributed group personal accident and business travel products, and will expand its accident and health products over time, according to a Monday statement.

Singapore-based Phillip Brain will serve as head of accident and health in the region. Previously, Mr. Brain was vice president and accident and health group manager for Asia-Pacific at Chubb Ltd.
