Insurer warns over usage of drones on vessels

Norway-based P&I club Assuranceforeningen Gard has warned its members over the usage of drones on vessels, reported gCaptain.

A recent incident, where a vessel proceeding through the Suez Canal was detained following the launch of a drone, prompted Gard to issue the alert.

"Although the intention when launching the drone was simply to document the vessel proceeding through the Suez Canal, this 'innocent act' may have been considered a threat to national security by the Egyptian Military Forces," said Gard.
