Foo Fighters sue Lloyd's for failing to cover canceled shows

The Foo Fighters rock band has filed litigation against Lloyd's of London underwriters and broker Robertson Taylor Insurance Brokers Ltd. over Lloyd's alleged failure to compensate it for shows canceled because of a band member's injuries, and the 2015 Paris terrorism attack.
The band's company, Kirkland, Washington-based Foo Fighters L.L.C. filed suit against Lloyd's underwriters and London-based Robertson Taylor, a unit of the Integro Group, in connection with the cancellation of 11 European performances during the band's 2015 Sonic Highways World Tour, according to a complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles in Foo Fighters, L.L.C., v. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's et al.
The complaint states London market insurers failed to pay under a cancellation policy for seven performances that were cancelled in June 2015 after band member Dave Grohl fell off a stage while performing in Gothenburg, Sweden, and suffered severe injuries to his right leg and ankle.
The complaint states also the insurers failed to pay under a terrorism policy when the November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris, and specific threats to the band, forced the cancelation of four shows scheduled to take place in the days immediately following the attacks.
The complaint charges Robertson Taylor acted on the insurers' behalf.
The lawsuit seeks declaratory relief and charges the insurers with breach of contract and good faith and fair dealing. Robertson Taylor is charged with breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent concealment and negligence.
