Cruise ship operators expect severe hit from ongoing port workers' strike

An ongoing port workers strike in Greece is significantly affecting cruise ship operators in the nation, reported The Maritime Executive.

Port workers are protesting the sale of Port of Piraeus to shipping giant China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co. Cruise ship operators are worried that the strike will have a lasting impact on the sector. "If they keep striking, we are expecting a €10 million ($11 million) impact on our business in Piraeus only for June," said Theodoros Kontes, head of the Greek cruise ship owners association.
