Insurers settle 88% of quake-related claims

Nepal's Insurance Board has said that 16 nonlife insurers in the country have settled 88% of insurance claims related to losses caused by April 2015 earthquakes, reported My Republica.

The insurers have so far settled 15,625 claims out of 17,761 made by their clients. Officials of the board said that insurers had received 5.6 billion Nepalese rupees ($52 million) from reinsurers to pay claims. Data showed that fire insurance policies accounted for the most number of claims.
