Fiat Chrysler recalls 80,000 vehicles

Automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. has recalled 80,474 units of Fiat 500 vehicles globally due to transmission problems, The Car Connection reports.

The recall includes vehicles from the model years 2012 to 2016 equipped with manual transmissions.

Vehicles with turbocharged engines have not been recalled, said the automaker.

The recall affects 7,155 vehicles in Mexico, 7,834 in Canada, 39,217 in the United States and 26,268 in the rest of the world.

The model's clutch release system will be upgraded at Fiat dealerships as part of the recall.
