Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. Tuesday named former American International Group Inc. executive Robert Katzman as its chief actuary.

Based in New York, Mr. Katzman will be responsible for leading the Hamilton, Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer's global actuarial function, including pricing, reserving, reinsurance analysis, planning, modeling, research, predictive analytics and digitalization, Argo said in a statement.

He succeeds Michael Fusco, who recently announced plans to retire after more than 40 years in the insurance industry.

Previously, Mr. Katzman was head of global casualty pricing and analytics at AIG, according to the statement.

“Bob has a great depth of actuarial experience with a strong understanding of global risk management trends and best practices,” Argo Chief Financial Officer Jay Bullock said in the statement.
