In the wake of the Great Recession that began in 2008, certain insurers, banks and financial management firms deemed by U.S. and international regulators as too big to fail were designated Systemically Important Financial Institutions. A judge has removed the SIFI tag from MetLife Inc., leaving 19 companies under increased oversight. A look at some of the remaining SIFIs:
