Airbag recall to cost Takata $24 billion

The recall of airbag inflators manufactured by Japan's Takata Corp. is likely to cost the firm 2.7 trillion Japanese yen ($24 billion), reported Bloomberg.

A source told the newswire that the worst-case recall scenario would involve 287.5 million airbag inflators. An analyst at U.S.-based Jefferies Group L.L.C. had earlier estimated the cost of the recall to be about $7 billion.
