Chubb leads hull and liability insurance coverage in deadly Flydubai crash

Chubb Ltd. leads the hull and liability insurance coverage of the Flydubai passenger jet that crashed Saturday in Russia and killed all 62 people on board Saturday, sources said.

Sources said the insured hull loss was likely to be about $48 million.

A spokesman for Willis Towers Watson P.L.C. confirmed that the London-based brokerage placed the coverage for the Boeing 737-800 jet that crashed Saturday while trying to land in Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia.

The craft crashed while attempting to land after spending about two hours circling the airport in bad weather conditions, reports said.

Fifty-five passengers and seven crew members were killed in the crash of the jet operated by the government-owned Dubai Aviation Corp.
