China regulator seeks to introduce legislation for cat bonds

China's insurance regulator has obtained feedback from market participants and global players on its proposed rules for catastrophe bonds and insurance liability securitization structures, Artemis.bm reported.

The rules seek to introduce legislation to allow for the securitization of insurance liabilities and their transfer to capital markets investors.

The regulator's proposal would allow sponsors to issue cat bonds or insurance-linked securities through a Special Purpose Vehicle or through itself, using either an onshore or offshore domicile.
