$100 million in crops lost due to El Nino in Philippines
Posted On: Mar. 3, 2016 12:00 AM CSTPhilippines' Department of Agriculture has said that crops worth 4.7 billion Philippine pesos ($100 million) has been lost due to El Nino in the past 12 months starting February 2015, reports GMA News Online.
The dry spell hit 222,781 hectares in the country over the year, the department said. The worst-hit region is Northern Mindanao, where crop damage totaled PHP 358.4 million.
