Russia's Supreme Court revokes ruling over insurance for 2012 aircraft crash

Russia's Supreme Court has revoked a lower court ruling that required insurer Kapital Strakhovaniye Insurance Co. to pay over $4 million to six foreign insurers in connection with Sukhoi Superjet-100 crash in 2012, reports RAPSI.

The court has remanded the case for a new trial.

The foreign insurers, with whom Kapital Strakhovaniye had reinsured its risks, had transferred $3.5 million to the insurer after the crash.

But they later demanded a refund saying that the accident was not insured as the policy covered only test flights.
