Ohio woman pleads guilty to workers comp fraud, owes $26,000

A Columbus, Ohio, woman who pleaded guilty to workers compensation fraud has been ordered to repay the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation more than $26,000, the bureau said.

Olivia Robinson received workers comp benefits while operating a cleaning company and working at the Bridgewater Banquet & Conference Center in Powell, Ohio, according to a Friday statement by the bureau.

As the owner of All Points Cleaning, Ms. Robinson cleaned offices and residential homes for “several years” while receiving benefits, the bureau's special investigations department found.

“She intentionally misrepresented and withheld her employment with both companies in order to continue collecting (workers comp),” according to the statement.

Ms. Robinson pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony count of attempted workers comp fraud on Feb. 16 in the Franklin County Municipal Court in Columbus, Ohio. She was ordered to pay $26,737.47 in restitution and sentenced to eight months in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, which was suspended on the condition that she successfully completes five years of community control.
