Residents file $142 million class action suit against Endeavour Energy over 2013 bushfires
Posted On: Feb. 18, 2016 12:00 AM CSTAustralian electricity infrastructure firm Endeavour Energy has been sued for $200 million Australian ($142 million) by residents in New South Wales over the 2013 Blue Mountains bushfires, reported ABC Online.
About 700 property owners have filed a class action lawsuit against Endeavour Energy. Barrister Tim Tobin has said the plaintiffs allege that a tree on Links View Road, Springwood fell on an adjacent power pole owned by Endeavour Energy. "When a tree fell on to a power line, this developed into a large bushfire," Mr. Tobin said.
