Bushfire damage to pine plantations could cost economy up to $36 million

Damage to pine plantations in the recent bushfire in Western Australia is likely to cost the state's economy up to $50 million Australian ($36 million) in lost revenues, ABC Online reported.

The bushfires burned more than 3,300 hectares of Forest Products Commission's pine plantations in Myalup, Eckersley, Bombara and McLarty regions. The lost trees will cost the FPC around AUD 8 million to replace in the short term as the plantations were uninsured.
